Past perfect continuous : Active
S + had + been + Ving + (since/for/....)
การใข้งาน
แบบที่ 1. ใช้เมื่อต้องเล่าถึงอดีตว่าเหตุการณ์หนึ่งดำเนินมาเป็นระยะเวลานานก่อนจุดเวลาหนึ่ง

แบบที่ 2. ใช้เมื่อต้องเล่าถึงอดีตว่าเหตุการณ์หนึ่งดำเนินมาเป็นระยะเวลานานก่อนที่จะมีอีกเหตุการณ์เกิดขึ้น(ใช้คู่กับPast Simple)

แบบที่ 1.
- He had been cooking lunch before noon.
เขาทำอาหารกลางวันก่อนเที่ยง
(ทำต่อเนื่องก่อนถึงเที่ยง)

แบบที่ 1.
They had been traveling since last year before success.
พวกเขาเดินทางกันมาตั้งแต่ปีที่แล้วก่อนที่จะประสบความสำเร็จ

แบบที่ 2 ใช้คู่กับ Past Simple: ชีดเส้นใต้ไว้
เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นก่อนหน้าและต่อเนื่องใช้ Past Perfect Continuous ส่วนเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นทีหลังจะใช้ Past Simple (Subject + V.2)

- Tom had been running fast before he fell.
ทอมวิ่งเร็วก่อนล้ม
(วิ่งเร็วต่อเนื่องก่อนการล้ม)

. He had been working all day before he took a rest.
เขาทำงานมาตลอดทั้งวันก่อนที่จะพัก

รวมประโยคการใช้ Past Perfect Continuous Tense
- He was tired because he had been working all night.
เขาเหนื่อยเพราะเขาทำงานมาทั้งคืน

- She had been studying English for two years before she moved to London.
เธอเรียนภาษาอังกฤษมาเป็นเวลา 2 ปีก่อนที่จะย้ายไปลอนดอน

- They had been playing football for an hour before it started to rain.
พวกเขาเล่นฟุตบอลมาได้หนึ่งชั่วโมงก่อนฝนจะตก

- I had been waiting for him since 5 p.m. before he finally arrived.
