Past Perfect (Active Voice)
Subject + had + V3
ตัวอย่างประโยค : เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้น ดำเนินอยู่ระยะหนึ่งและจบลงแล้วในอดีต
** had + V3 ใช้ได้กับทุกประธาน ทั้งเอกพจน์และพหูพจน์
- We had planned to meet tonight.
พวกเราวางแผนพบกันคืนนี้
- He had spent a long time in this country.
เขาใช้เวลามากในประเทศนี้
รูปปฏิเสธ had + not (hadn’t)
- He hadn’t shaved for days.
เขาไม่ได้โกนเป็นเวลาหลายวันแล้ว(หนวด/ เครา)

- The telephone wires had been cut.
สายโทรศัพท์ถูกตัด
- I had never heard of them.
ฉันไม่เคยได้ยินเกี่ยวกับมันมาก่อน
- The blanket had frozen to the windscreen.
ผ้าคลุมรถนั้นแข็ง ติดกับกระจกหน้า
- The screws that hold the bed together had loosened.
สกรูที่ยึดเตียงไว้ด้วยกัน หลุดออกมา
- He chose not to broadcast that they had met before.
เขาเลือกที่จะไม่ออกอากาศที่พวกเขาได้พบมาก่อน
- When I arrived at the station, the train had already left.
รถไฟได้ออกไปแล้ว เมื่อฉันมาถึงสถานี
- Eventually she had saved enough money to buy a small car.
